Scientists say they've discovered a "mega coral" three times bigger than the previous record holder - so huge they initially thought it was a shipwreck.

The enormous organism is bigger than a blue whale and made up of millions of genetically identical, tiny animals called polyps

Now, the largest coral ever recorded has been discovered, scientists said Thursday, and it’s so big it can be seen from space. It was found by a National Geographic team conducting an expedition in the Solomon Islands in October to study ocean health.
