Rocket Lab's Electron vehicle appeared to fire up briefly today (Sept. 18) before shutting down, resulting in a launch abort.

Rocket Lab USA, Inc. (Nasdaq: RKLB) ("Rocket Lab" or "the Company"), a global leader in launch services and space systems, today successfully launched its 53 rd Electron mission and deployed five satellites to Low Earth Orbit for French Internet-of-Things (IoT) company Kinéis.

Rocket Lab was set Wednesday to launch an Electron rocket with a payload of five satellites into space, but the mission was aborted at the last moment.

Rocket Lab had to abort the scheduled launch of its Electron rocket from New Zealand due to issues with ground support equipment. The mission, carrying five satellites for Kineis, a French provider of space-based IoT connectivity,

Rocket Lab said on Thursday that the scheduled launch of its Electron rocket into space from a facility in New Zealand was aborted just prior to lift off due to issues with on ground support equipment.

An Electron launched a second set of satellites for French startup Kinéis Sept. 20, putting that company on track to begin Internet of Things services.
