Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is appealing last week's decision by a district court to allow the State Fair of Texas to enforce its policy banning guns from the fairgrounds.

Paxton is seeking to block enforcement of the fair's new policy banning guns, pending his appeal of a judge's ruling last week upholding the policy.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced in a news release he filed an appeal which would prevent the city of Dallas and the State Fair on a new policy banning all firearms from its fairgrounds, the release from Paxton's office said.

The Fair argues it's a private entity and should be allowed to make its own safety rules. Paxton's office says the rule infringes on gun owners' rights.
