General Motors (NYSE:GM) will lay off nearly 1,700 employees at its Fairfax Assembly and Stamping plant in Kansas, the automaker said earlier this week. The automaker made this announcement in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the Kansas Department of Commerce.

General Motors Co. said it will temporarily lay off two-thirds of the workers at its Fairfax assembly plant in Kansas as it prepares the facility to begin production of the next Chevrolet Bolt model.
