Charles Herbster, the Falls City cattle producer who ran for governor in Nebraska's 2022 GOP primary, is among candidates to be the next U.S. secretary of agriculture, Politico reported.

Former Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster announced Tuesday that he is being considered for the position of U.S. Secretary of Agriculture under president-elect Donald J. Trump’s administration.

Herbster told KETV it would be a "distinct honor" to serve in President-elect Trump's administration. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Monday that President elect-Trump “and his transition team are already breaking” a law on presidential transition.
